What are your top three business books and why?

My current top 3 books are:

"The Outsiders: Eight Unconventional CEOs and Their Radically Rational Blueprint for Success" by William N. Thorndike.

It stresses the importance of the role of the CEO. Trust in your team to handle the day-to-day so the CEO can focus on the big picture. The hallmark of an exceptional CEO's performance is the returns for the shareholders of that company over the long term.

"Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ" by Daniel Goleman

Through vivid examples, Goleman delineates the five crucial skills of emotional intelligence, and shows how they determine our success in relationships, work, and even our physical well-being. What came out of this for me  is an entirely new way to talk about being smart.

"Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap and Others Don't" by Jim Collins

This read will shed light on virtually every area of management strategy and practice. "Some of the key concepts discerned in the study," comments Jim Collins, "fly in the face of our modern business culture and will, quite frankly, upset some people." I highly recommend.
