AC - Tell us more about your main areas of expertise for being an advisor?

I am a business development and product marketing leader with experience and success in cloud computing and enterprise SaaS across the healthcare industry, including the areas of healthcare IT, cloud computing, enterprise SaaS, data and analytics, AI/ML, and healthcare informatics.

I have an extensive background in sales & marketing, healthcare technology, and start-ups, and I currently lead healthcare business development & strategic outreach at Amazon Web Services, where I create sales and go-to-market strategies for the health system market, and support customers in adopting the cloud to better serve their patients.

AC - Describe your main motivation for being an advisor?

Something unique to the healthcare industry is that at the end of the day, we all want to see each other succeed to make patients’ lives better. To be able to play even a small role in that by advising mission-oriented companies who strive to improve the healthcare system is an honor. I also enjoy getting to interact with leaders across the industry I would not have otherwise had the chance to meet and collaborate with.

AC - Elaborate on the types of situations, challenges or decisions, you feel you could add the most value to as an advisor?

Early stage companies often face challenges around where to invest resources, how to approach their go-to-market, sales, and marketing strategies, their brand and positioning in the market, and how to attract funding. My startup experience at different stage startups has given me experience in approaching these challenges first hand – the successes and the failures – and these are the areas in which I successfully advise companies.

AC - Do you see any disruptive trends on the horizon in your industry or position?

The move to the cloud is the biggest disruption in healthcare right now. As healthcare organizations look to leverage their data to improve care, increase security and reliability, and cut costs, they are moving out of their own data centers and into the cloud. We are seeing organizations build life-saving solutions in the cloud in ways that are not possible on-premises. This is and will continue to be the biggest shift we see in health IT over the coming years.

Reducing clinician burnout is another key trend in healthcare right now, and companies that not only provide patient value, but also clinician value, will differentiate themselves in the market. Streamlined clinician workflow and tools that provide delight to clinicians will win.

Closing the health equity gap is also a top priority in healthcare right now, with COVID-19 bringing to light long-existing disparities in the healthcare system. Organizations that can leverage technology, social community resources, and public partnerships will be successful in closing this gap.

AC - Tell me about the most impactful project or decision you’ve been involved in as an executive.

Apervita is a healthcare cloud platform for payers and providers to improve clinical quality while reducing costs, Apervita serves over 3,000 health systems and multiple industry-leading payers. As Director of Marketing, my go-to-market strategy and lead generation efforts resulted in 1,000% YoY growth in ARR in 2018.
